Christmas 2012

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Caroline was definitely more into things this year since last year she was only five months old. I know each year is going to continue to be more fun =). She got a lot of great toys, baby dolls, books, and many other things. We spent Christmas Eve with my mom's side of the family, and then that night we came back home and spent the evening and next morning with my dad's side. Then everyone left early on Christmas morning to try and escape the winter weather that was coming! Thankfully, we didn't get one drop of snow, but we do have some really really cold temps.

Lights on the Square

A couple weeks ago, we went down to see the lights on the Fayetteville square. It was so much fun, and the lights were beautiful. I am hoping this can become an annual tradition for our little family. Here are some pictures from our evening...

A couple weeks ago, our play group got together to deliver Christmas goodies to a local nursing home. It was a lot of fun and getting to bless the residents this Christmas season. Caroline is a little young to understand, but I think she still had a good time. Here is a group shot of the kiddos...

Merry Christmas

** Luke 1:31-33**
"Now listen: You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will call His name JESUS. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end."

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Merry Christmas from The Lieuxs

Leslie from Giraffic Arts did our Christmas cards this year. I love working with her. Her creativity always amazes me. Virgila from Virgila Dale Photography took our fall pictures this year. They were out of town, so we weren't able to include the dogs. This was their first abandonment since having a kid =). Saying we had a horrible morning before the pictures is quite the understatement. Caroline had an accident that ended up all over her outfit which ended up on my outfit. She was upset and it was chilly, so we were thankful when the session was over. The pictures turned out really good minus the fact Caroline doesn't look to happy. But towards the end, she finally cracked a couple smiles. Here are some of our fall family pictures...

Glory in the Highest

Our church's Christmas play had a lot of songs from Chris Tomlin's Glory in the Highest CD. All of the songs are wonderful, but I especially LOVE three of them.

Joy to the World {Unspeakable Joy}

Joy to the world, the Lord is come Let earth receive her king Let every heart prepare Him room And Heaven and nature sing And Heaven and nature sing And Heaven, and Heaven and nature sing Joy to the world, the Savior reigns That all their songs employ While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains Repeat the sounding joy Repeat the sounding joy Repeat, repeat the sounding joy Joy, unspeakable joy And overflowing where no tongue can tell Joy, unspeakable joy Rises in my soul, never lets me go He rules the world with truth and grace And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness And wonders of His love And wonders of His love And wonders, wonders of His love Joy, unspeakable joy And overflowing where no tongue can tell Joy, unspeakable joy Rises in my soul, never lets me go

Glory in the Highest
You are the first You go before You are the last Lord, You're the encore Your name's in lights for all to see The starry host declare Your glory Glory in the highest Glory in the highest Glory in the highest Apart from You there is no god Light of the world The Bright and Morning Star Your name will shine for all to see You are the one You are my glory And no one else could ever compare To You, Lord All the earth together declares ... Glory in the highest ... to You, Lord All the earth will sing Your praise The moon and stars, the sun and rain Every nation will proclaim That You are God and You will reign Glory, glory hallelujah Glory, glory to You, Lord Glory, glory hallelujah Hallelujah
Winter Snow
Could've come like a mighty storm With all the strength of a hurricane You could've come like a forest fire With the power of Heaven in Your flame But You came like a winter snow Quiet and soft and slow Falling from the sky in the night To the earth below You could've swept in like a tidal wave Or an ocean to ravish our hearts You could have come through like a roaring flood To wipe away the things we've scarred But You came like a winter snow, yes, You did You were quiet, You were soft and slow Falling from the sky in the night To the earth below Ooh no, Your voice wasn't in a bush burning No, Your voice wasn't in a rushing wind It was still, it was small, it was hidden Oh, You came like a winter snow Quiet and soft and slow Falling from the sky in the night To the earth below Falling, oh yeah, to the earth below You came falling from the sky in the night To the earth below

Christmas Party

Last night, we had a Christmas party with our small group. Stephen and my brother were on a hunting trip, so my SIL, Ashley, and I went together. We joined this group once we got moved, and we are enjoying it so much. They are a great class, and I have loved getting to know all of them. The Rowes hosted us at their beautiful home. We had a delicious meal, gift exchange, and played "guess who". It was such a fun evening!

My gift was a banana holder.
I thought it was pretty funny, and so did everyone else. =)
Along with my Christmas treats, I also took a Red Velvet Cake,
and I did two layers green. It was delicious as usual!
So pretty and yummy!

Christmas Candy

We had a Christmas party last night for our small group at church. I took a dessert and some candy treats for everyone to take home. I made Christmas Cheetos which is something my grandma and mom make every year. They are ADDICTING! I also made Oreo Christmas Bark. I found this recipe on Mix and Match Mama's Blog. It looked yummy and was so easy to make. This recipe could easily be made for other holidays as well.

Oreo Christmas Bark
Ingredients:
1 package white-chocolate candy coating
10 Christmas Oreos, crushed
1/4 cup pretzel sticks, broken into pieces
Christmas M&Ms
A few tablespoons of Candy Cane Crunch
Christmas sprinkles
A handful of white chocolate chips and/or mint chocolate chips

In a microwavable bowl, melt white-chocolate coating (stopping to stir every 45 seconds). Once melted, pour over a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Immediately, top with cookies, pretzels, sprinkles and candy and slightly press into chocolate (I use a large spatula to press the candy into the chocolate). Refrigerate at least one hour. Pull from fridge, break into pieces with your hands.

Christmas Cheetos
Ingredients:
10 oz. bag crunchy Cheetos {do not buy off brand}
1 stick of butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup Karo syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon soda

Boil butter, brown sugar, and Karo syrup over med/low heat for 5 minutes. Add soda and vanilla. Stir until smooth. While heating the above, put Cheetos in light sprayed dutch oven and heat for five minutes. Pour mixture over Cheetos and bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour. Turn Cheetos every 15 minutes.
{You can use a cookie sheet, but it is a lot less messy when using a roast pot or dutch oven.}

Enjoy!!

Visiting Santa

We had a play date at the mall on Friday, so I decided to take Caroline to have her picture made with Santa. It turned out just as I had thought it would. I tried to bribe her with fruit loops, but they didn't work. Hah. There's always next year....

Christmas with Opa and Oma

A couple weekends ago, we celebrated Christmas with Stephen's parents and his brother Chris. His parents are going to Germany for Christmas this year thus the reason for celebrating early. Caroline looked so cute in her Santa dress! She was kind of into opening presents this year. We kept telling her to tear the paper, and she would. Then we got back home, and she and Henry thought they needed to do that on the presents under the tree. =) She got a few toys from Oma and Opa, but she was more interested in the McDonalds cash register, so we had to bring it home too. We had a delicious meal, and the weather was so beautiful that we were able to snap a few pictures outside.

Oma with her Andrea Bocelli shirt. We all went in together and bought them floor tickets to see him in Dallas. The concert was at the end of November, so here she is with her souvenir.
