Home as a Family of Four

My doctor had released me first thing the next morning, but we couldn't go home until 24 hours after the baby was born. They did Will's 24-hour exam right at 4pm, and we were out of the hospital by 5:30pm. It was pouring down rain, but we were ready to get home! The first night, he was cranky and crying that we were ready to send him to the nursery, but they have a new policy where they want the baby in the room with the parents. So because of that, I was ready to get to the comforts of our home.

Welcome William Thomas!!

William "Will" Thomas has arrived. He arrived on May 28th at 3:56pm weighing 7lbs6oz and 20.75" long! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Mont Ne Chicken with some of our family before we said "goodbye" to Caroline for the night. We went home that night and "tried" to get a restful, good night of sleep before our alarms at 3:30am. We checked into the hospital at 4:30am. We were a little early because I specifically remember looking at the clock and being in the hospital bed at 4:30am. This induction was so different than Caroline and a MUCH better experience. I don't know if it was because of being a second baby or because I got my epidural super early. Ha! The only bad thing was not being able to eat. And I'm pretty sure the main topic of conversation in the room was about food the whole day all the while I couldn't eat! The morning was pretty slow and uneventful. After going through a couple bags of fluid and getting the pitocin started, I got my epidural around 7:30am and broke my water around 9:30am. After lunch time is when the pitocin had been bumped WAYYY up and things got to moving! At 2:55pm, I was at a 6, and then a new nurse came in at 3:10pm or so and things went so fast she never left the room until after Will was born. I was feeling so much pressure at 3:15pm that I had her check me {she wasn't planning on checking me again until 4pm, ha!}. I was at an 8, and she informed everyone to prep the room for delivery. WHOA! I lost it, we were about to have a baby.  And about 10 minutes later, I swear he was about to come out, I told her she needed to check me and it was time to start pushing. We had to wait on Dr. Terry before we started pushing because he was so low. I pushed through two contractions, and Will was born. We are so in love with this little boy!

Becoming a Big Sister

After going to the doctor yesterday and confirming that we would be having a baby on Thursday, to say I got emotional is a bit of an understatement. I am very excited about Will coming, but I had mixed emotions about all the changes Caroline was about to experience. It is crazy to think that our "new-normal" won't just be me and her anymore. I wanted her last day as an "only child" to be special. So today was that day. We had some errands to run, but we also made a trip to Build-a-Bear, the cookie company, and lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

And some pictures...

Last Day of PreK-3

I can't believe the "official" school year is over! We have one week off which we will be welcoming the newest addition to our family, and then Caroline will start summer school in June. She had such a great year with wonderful teachers, and I know she learned so much!

Random Pictures

One of my projects lately has been sorting through all of Caroline's "artwork" that we have saved since her first day in Mother's Day Out. Her father thought it was realistic and me being in "nesting" mode has decided it is definitely not realistic! So we have sorted through and kept the more "meaningful" pieces. Ha!

Thanks to an awesome sister-in-law, I enjoyed a fabulous Mother's Day Out day at the spa!

Proud of her new headband =)

My company at the doctor one morning. Mason, of course, had to come along

Oh you know- just covering the toilet seat for her baby. HAHA!

She drew flowers for each person in the family

Just a normal Saturday morning

Awana Awards

Our sweet little Cubbie finished the year and had her first award ceremony! So proud and so thankful for a church that invests in the lives of young children whether it is through the dance ministry or the Awanas ministry!

Picking Strawberries

Yesterday morning, we went to pick strawberries with Lucy Jane and Kaylor. The kids had so much fun, and I thought I was going to send myself into labor from bending over. Ha! We only made it down one row of strawberries before we had picked our limit! I must say they were delicious!!
